Decolonization dialogues: Legacy, challenges and progress
Co-organized by the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), and the NAM Youth Organization, an international conference on the theme “Decolonization dialogues: Legacy, challenges and progress" held on December 22, 2023, in Baku.
The international conference was dedicated on the occasion of the 63rd Anniversary of the Declaration about the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples on the topic of "Decolonization Dialogues: Legacy, Challenges, and Progress"
The main goal of the conference was to create a platform for solving this global problem.
As the most memorable figure in the history of colonialism, France was criticized for continuing its colonial policy in 13 overseas territories, ignoring the calls of international organizations, and grossly violating the fundamental norms and principles of international law and displaying double standards.

The group was established by participants of the conference "Towards the Total Elimination of Colonialism" held on July 6, 2023, in Baku within the framework of the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement under the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was organized by the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and provided a platform for exchanging views on ways to eliminate the neo-colonial policy of France.
The main objective on the establishment of BIG is to undertake to continue and strengthen their struggle for complete liberation of their peoples and eradication of colonialism in order to forge a new approach to international relations based on global cooperation among nations, respect for the equality and sovereignty of nations.
A statement on the outcome of the event underlined for the complete elimination of colonialism and the promotion of autonomy and freedom for all colonized people.
The Baku Initiative Group is an international organization to support the struggle for the liberation of peoples living in different regions of the world and still suffering from colonialism in the 21st century.
